Thanks for such a long and lovely meditation on the joys of winter Ramya! 👏 As a native Bostonian now living in southern CA, I remember many perfect snowy days with great fondness while embracing the warm sunny winter days here in the southwest corner.

Thank you so much, Baird, I'm so glad you enjoyed these wintery musings, and I hope I could bring a little bit of Boston to you in CA. And I hope you enjoy your warm sunny California winter!

Ramya, I think even Winter itself would feel it's heart warmed by the sheer beauty of your writing.

And I must admit, I've always been one for walking out in the bleak beauty of it all too - though we have not have much snow here either for the last couple of years.

Also, great choice with some of those artworks.

Although it did make me wonder whether the photos from your own snow walk were closer in view to Friedrich, Monet, or Brueghel's winter landscapes!

haha that's so sweet of you to say, George—it would be nice to imagine Winter sitting there reading this. And snow or not, I hope you enjoy your wintery walks!

It means a lot to me coming from you that you liked the artworks here. Unfortunately about the photos I'll have to find out until after they're developed—the pitfalls of film 😭 But I'd say probably Monet or Brueghel are closer than Friedrich—his winters can be so gothic!

Yes, if winter really does read your work, I have no doubt it will be keen to tell Spring, Summer, and Autumn all about it too!

And that’s cool you shot the photos on film. That waiting for them to be developed is all part of the fun, not a pitfall. But I think anything close to a Monet or Brueghel landscape must have been a really lovely place to be.

(Though I must admit, I think i’d definitely enjoy a walk in Friedrich’s gothic landscapes too!)

That's such a lovely idea—Winter having a conversation with Spring, Summer, and Autumn. Now I'm imagining them all as besties who like to gossip when they're not off doing their season-duties.

Yes, that's mainly what I like about film—the element of surprise!

I do lowkey want to be right next to those icebergs of Friedrich's haha.

Such a beautiful collection of snow pictures, paintings and writing. I love snow as long as I don't have to shovel the driveway! Beautiful ode to winter for 2024!

Definitely agree with you about shoveling—not the funnest part of winter! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment!
